HOUSTON – One day after being with family and friends and giving thanks, Houston Baptist will hit the hardwood on Friday to host the fourth-annual Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24.

Friday's games feature Navy vs. UC Davis at 5 pm, followed by HBU against Jackson State at 7:30 pm. Saturday's matchups pit HBU vs. UC Davis at 1 pm, then Navy vs. Jackson State at 3:30 pm.

This will mark the first meetings for the Huskies against both Jackson State and UC Davis.

HBU (2-3) had a battle with fellow Houston school, St. Thomas, on Nov. 21, as the Huskies were tied at halftime for the first time this season, but held on at the very end for the 63-60 win.

Shanice Steenholdt scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds. Devyn Weymouth scored 13 points and Tayler Jefferson added nine.

Amber Arceneaux-Francis had a double-double for the Celts, with 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Her'shiira Rodgers-Boone scored a team-high 14 points, while Taylor Mitchell scored 11 and Maghen Lormand added 10.

On the season, Steenholdt averages a double-double of 17.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Jefferson is second with 11.0 ppg, while dishing out a team-high 13 assists. Erin McGarrachan is third with 8.5 points and second with 7.3 rebounds per game.

Jackson State (0-3) had a strong second half after finding itself down 22 at the break, but the Lady Tigers lost to the University of Texas, 80-53, on Nov. 20.

Tiffany Kellum nearly recorded a double-double for JSU, scoring seven points and bringing down a team-high 10 rebounds. Both Dominique Brothern and Beatrice Banks scored a team-high eight points.

Five Longhorns finished in double-figures, led by the double-double of 24 points and 20 rebounds by Nneka Enemkpali.

Kellum nearly averages a double-double on the season for JSU, with 10.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

UC Davis (0-2) has not played since a 72-65 loss at San Francisco on Nov. 14. Sydnee Fipps scored a game-high 23 points for UC Davis, going 8-for-13 from the floor. Three players finished in double figures for the Dons, led by Taylor Proctor with 18 points.

On the season, Fipps leads the Aggies with 22.5 points per game, going 13-for-20 from the floor. Molly Gruebel is second with 11.0 ppg, while Briana Salvatore leads UC Davis with 7.0 rebounds per game.
