HOUSTON - Houston Baptist returns from its week-long trip to Hawai'i to host Dallas Christian in the home opener Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
The Huskies are led by senior forward
Art Bernardi with 17.7 points and 7.0 rebounds, while senior guard
Marcus Davis adds 12.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Sophomore guards
Marcel Smith and
Tyler Russell are tied for the team lead with seven assists.
Dallas Christian is led by Malcolm McCarty with 19.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and is shooting 40 percent from 3-point range. Max Berman averages 12.3 points per game and is hitting 50 percent from behind the arc. Chad Herring adds 7.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
The Huskies won their first two games of the season, a 72-68 decision over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and crusing to a 70-55 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore, before falling to Hawai'i, 73-60.
HBU and Dallas Christian squared off last season, and the Huskies prevailed, 112-80, on Dec. 10. Davis had 30 points to lead six players in double figures for HBU.
