HOUSTON – Houston Baptist will make its first road trip of the season when the Huskies play at UTEP Friday night at 8:05 pm CST and New Mexico Sunday at 2 pm CST.

HBU is 0-1 all-time against both UTEP and New Mexico, with both first meetings coming last season. HBU lost 82-53 in El Paso to a UTEP team that reached the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies lost to the Lobos, 65-38, in Houston.
It will be a special weekend for two Huskies:
Erin McGarrachan returns to her old stomping grounds of UTEP, as she played in five games for the Miners in 2010-11 as a freshman, scoring four points and recording a steal in just 12 minutes.
Shanice Steenholdt returns to her home state of New Mexico on Sunday. Albuquerque is 3 ½ hours northwest from Steenholdt's hometown of Roswell.
HBU (1-1) evened its record with a 73-46 win over Schreiner on Nov. 12. It was the Huskies' seventh victory over the Mountaineers in as many meetings.
McGarrachan recorded her first collegiate double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, while
Tayler Jefferson tied a career high with 16 points. Steenholdt scored 12 points and
Brittany Barton added 10. McGarrachan also had three assists and four steals.
Lanie Alaniz came off the bench to score 11 points for Schreiner, while Lindsey Peterson grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
On the season, Steenholdt leads the Huskies with 13.0 ppg, while McGarrachan is averaging a double-double with 11.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg. Jefferson is third with 10.0 ppg.
Monet Neal has the highest shooting percentage on the team, with a 63% field goal percentage.
UTEP (1-0) opened its season with a 79-51 win over visiting Loyola Marymount on Nov. 10. The Miners had defeated visiting St. Mary's (Texas), 69-60, in exhibition play on Nov. 3.
Against LMU, Kristine Vitola had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Miners, while Kayla Thornton and Kelli Willingham had 15 points apiece. Vitola was named Conference USA Player of the Week for her efforts.
Alex Cowling led LMU with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Melinda Gomez scored 11 and Mackenzie Kerins came off the bench to score 10.
New Mexico (1-0) started its season on the right foot with a 68-57 win over visiting Northern Arizona on Nov. 9. The Lobos are home the entire month of November, except Nov. 30, when they play at the Univ. of Houston.
Sara Halasz, Caroline Durbin, and Khadijah Shumpert each led New Mexico with 13 points against Northern Arizona. Shumpert also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Amy Patton led Northern Arizona with 33 points, while Aubrey Davis had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Following the road trip, HBU returns home for a four-game home stand beginning Wed., Nov. 21 against St. Thomas at 7 pm.
