HOUSTON – Houston Baptist will look to move up the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation standings with two important divisional matches this weekend. The Huskies host Denver Friday evening at 7 pm, then conclude the home stand hosting Air Force Sunday at 1 pm.

HBU is 1-1-0 all-time against Denver and 1-2-0 against Air Force. The Pioneers defeated HBU 3-2 in Denver in 2010, the last time the two teams faced each other. Prior to that, they hadn't faced each other since a 1-0 Husky win in Houston to begin the 1982 campaign. The Huskies' last matchup against Air Force was a 5-2 Falcon victory in Houston last season.

HBU (2-5-0, 0-1-0 MPSF Mountain Division) narrowly pulled off the upset at home over #4 New Mexico last Sunday. The Huskies scored the first goal of the match and led at halftime, but the Lobos scored two second-half goals for the 2-1 win.

Kristopher Tyrpak, whose goal snapped the Lobos' 195-minute shutout streak Sunday, leads the Huskies with two assists and two points. He is tied with Zach Pierce, Thilo Borgmann, and Christian Cruz for the team lead with two goals apiece.

Kevin Suarez has started the last two matches in goal for HBU and has an 0-2-0 record and a 2.78 goals-against average. Zach Harwerth is 2-3-0 and posts a 1.46 GAA.

Denver (5-2-2, 0-1-0 MPSF Mtn. Div.) had its five-match winning streak snapped at the hands of Air Force last Saturday, as the Falcons defeated Denver, 1-0.

Josh Wren leads the Pioneers with five goals and 11 points, while Brian Hoyt is second with four goals and nine points. Zach Bolden leads the team with five assists.

Oliver Brown has seen the majority of time in goal and has a record of 4-2-2 with a 1.23 GAA.

Air Force (4-5-1, 1-0-0 MSP Mtn. Div.) has had an up-and-down season so far, with a two-game winning streak followed by a two-game losing streak. But the Falcons are tied atop the Mountain Division standings after defeating Denver 1-0 last Saturday. Air Force plays at #5 New Mexico Friday evening in a battle for sole possession of first place.

Abinadi Samayoa leads the Falcons with two goals and is tied for the team lead with four points. Zane Dydasco leads the team with two assists and is tied with Samayoa with four points.

Matt Underwood has played every minute in goal for Air Force and has a record of 4-5-1 with a 1.06 GAA.
