Junior outside hitter Heather Leaverton had 12 kills in the Huskies' sweep of Prairie View A&M Tuesday.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Houston Baptist University hit .295 as a team and registered 14 service aces to sweep Prairie View A&M, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-10), in non-conference volleyball Tuesday night at the William Nicks Building.

HBU junior outside hitter Heather Leaverton led the Huskies (10-3) with a match-high 12 kills, while senior outside hitter Christie Dorch posted nine kills without an error and two solo blocks. Junior setter Victoria Weatherly had 24 assists and a team-leading five aces. Senior middle blocker Jolie Graf had five kills and four aces, while senior libero Courtney Whittleman recorded a match-high 12 digs.

Christine Ruckman led Prairie View A&M (0-9) with six kills, while Shanice Faison had eight digs. Maegan Coleman had three kills and three solo blocks.

The Huskies held the Panthers to an .074 hitting percentage and outdug them, 29-25. Prairie View A&M had only two aces.

HBU returns to action when it hosts the Husky Classic Friday and Saturday at Sharp Gym. The Huskies face Southern Mississippi Friday at 2 p.m., followed by Southeastern Louisiana at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Huskies conclude the tournament against Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m.
