CHICAGO – Houston Baptist University junior setter
Victoria Weatherly recorded her team-leading eighth double-double and spread the ball around to five different players with at least seven kills to lead the Huskies to a 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 17-25, 25-17) victory over Chicago State in Great West Conference play Saturday afternoon at the Jacoby Dickens Center.
Weatherly dished out 44 assists to go with 10 digs and four kills. Freshman outside hitter

Isis Gardner each had nine kills for the Huskies (14-5, 2-0 GWC). Freshman outside hitter

Courtney Whittleman led HBU defensively with 17 digs.
“I'm very excited about our second conference win,” Weatherly said. “It was a team effort and the bench made a great contribution.”
Alexandra Mason had a match-high 10 kills for Chicago State (1-17, 0-2), while Mazvita Maziveyi had eight, and Rachel Levitt and Angelica Brewer had seven apiece. Brewer also added 10 digs. Mysta Townsell had a match-high 19 digs and Mia Townsell had 11.
HBU hit .257 for the match, while holding Chicago State to .119. The Huskies outdug the Cougars, 63-56, and outblocked them, 9-4.
The Huskies return to action and return home to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in non-conference action Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
