Houston - The HBU women's basketball team returns home to face cross-town rival Rice on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 7 pm. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

HBU (2-9) lost at Lamar on Dec. 19, 88-52. Destini Texada set a new career high with 25 points while adding 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double on the season and eighth in her career.

Megan Green was second on the team with nine points and led the squad with four assists.
Five Cardinals finished in double-figures, led by Jenna Plumley and Ang Green with 13 apiece.

Texada leads the Huskies with 12.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. Tia Jackson has a team-high 42 assists and 16 steals. Ernesta Griciunaite has 10 of the team's 26 blocks. As a team, HBU is shooting 39 percent from the floor.

Rice dropped a 64-40 game at Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 18, evening the Owls' record to 5-5.

Jessica Kuster led Rice with 15 points and eight rebounds. D'Franz Smart finished the game with seven points, two rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Asriel Rolfe for UALR led all scorers with 19 points while Chastity Reed had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Brianna Hypolite leads the Owls with 12.6 points per game while Kuster is tops with 8.4 rebounds per game. Smart has a team-high 43 assists and 25 steals. Kuster has 18 of the team's 28 blocks. As a team, Rice is shooting 36 percent from the floor.
