NEWARK, N.J. – Francisco Diaz's goal five minutes into the first overtime gave the visiting men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Atlantic Soccer Conference foe, NJIT, Saturday night.
The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, as Kristopher Tyrpak scored headed home a ball, assisted by Andrew Collins. The Highlanders knotted the match 20 minutes later as Pasquale Amato scored, unassisted.
The score would remain that way until the 95th minute, as Diaz scored off the rebound of Mateo Jimenez's original shot.
HBU outshot NJIT 16-12 and had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
HBU (7-7-1, 3-0-0 ASC), winners of five straight, will conclude the regular season at Adelphi on Monday at 2 pm EST.
