HBU’s Whittleman Named to GWC Volleyball All-Tournament Team

Huskies sophomore libero averaged 5.20 digs per set for the tournament.

HOUSTON - Houston Baptist sophomore libero Courtney Whittleman was selected to the Great West Conference Volleyball All-Tournament Team as voted on by the league coaches at the conclusion of the championship Saturday.

Whittleman was second overall with 5.20 digs per set for the tournament. She had 29 digs, two shy of her career high, in Friday's five-set quarterfinal victory over NJIT. She outdueled the Highlanders' Sabrina Baby, who leads the nation in digs this season, but had only 17 against HBU. Whittleman then had 23 digs in Friday's five-set semifinal loss to Utah Valley.

The Houston native finishes the season with a 4.68 digs per set average.

The other All-Tournament honorees were South Dakota's Jenna Hatfield, Utah Valley's Kayli Broadbent and Allyce Jones and North Dakota's Amanda Polzin, Lindsay Vortherms and Megan Langseth, who was named the Most Valuable Player for the champion Fighting Sioux.
