HBU LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

Huskies partner with ATHLETICSITE.COM

Houston Baptist University is pleased to announce the launch of its new athletic website. Along with the transition back to NCAA Division I, HBU has made the move to transition its athletic website, joining with ATHLETICSITE.COM in a hosting partnership to provide the highest quality internet access for HBU Athletics.

"I am excited about our new partnership with ATHLETICSITE.COM." stated Associate Director of Athletic Media Relations Steven Key. "We have always strived to provide HBU fans with the best and timeliest information about HBU Athletics. This move will be a tremendous benefit to all of our loyal followers."

There are many outstanding features with the new website, including enhanced graphics, photography and easy-access links. The move to the new site also brings about the advent of an internet broadcasting partnership with Texas Sports Radio Network.

TSRN will cover HBU men's and women's basketball as well as baseball and softball during the remainder of the 2007-08 athletic calender year. That coverage began with the women's basketball exhibition game against Rice University on Thursday night. In addition, all the games that are broadcast will also be archived for later use.

While there are some areas of the web that are still "under construction", the main focus of bringing the latest scores, stats and stories in a expedient manner will continue.

"We will be better suited to get the information to our fans in an even quicker manner." Key said. "Being a server-based site, there will be a team of people in our sports information department that can update the site from any computer, anywhere, anytime. That gives our fans as well as the media access to the Huskies much faster than in the past."

Key, along with his wife Sherry, a four-year starter for the HBU softball team from 1992-95, created the original HBU Athletic site over nine years ago. Key is in his 12th year as a member of the HBU Sports Information Department, as well as his 14th season as Assistant Basketball Coach.

"I want to thank Scott McCain and the good folks of ATHLETICSITE.COM." Key concluded. "Scott was more than gracious with his time and patience in what was a unique and interesting process of switching things over. I really believe that this change will provide our fans with the best possible product. "

Athleticsite.com is the official provider of college athletic websites for 20 NCAA and NAIA institutions and conferences. It is in its third year of existence. HBU is the second NCAA Division I institution to join their client list.
