Senior Kaitlin Smith was named the Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Women's Athlete of the Year last Wednesday. The Wailuku, Hawai'i, native won gold in the heptathlon and in the 110-meter hurdles, silver in the long jump, bronze in the 400-meter hurdles and placed fifth in the high jump at the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships. She will compete in the NCAA West Prelims beginning Wednesday.
