The 800 meters was a strong event for the Huskies at the 2017 Southland Conference Indoor Championships, with Kierstin Santana taking the bronze on the women's side. Already the school record holder in the event, the senior from Baytown, Texas, broke her own record with a time of 2:12.15. Santana was also a member of the bronze-medal winning 4x400-meter relay squad.
