    Defensive Line/Recruiting Coordinator
Mark McMillan joined the HCU football staff in January of 2024 as the program’s defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator.
 
McMillan joined the Huskies after two seasons as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Trinity Valley Community College. While at TVCC, McMillan’s defense led the Southwest Junior College Football Conference in defensive turnovers twice and in 2023 led the conference in scoring defense at 22.8 points per game. He helped 10 defensive players move on to an NCAA Division I program his first season at TVCC and then 12 hi second season.
 
Prior to TVCC, McMillan coached two seasons at Hardin-Simmons as the Cowboys’ defensive line coach. HSU’s defense was the sixth-best scoring defense in NCAA Division III in 2021, allowing just 10.6 ppg, while allowing just 257 yards per game.
 
McMillan spent three seasons at TVCC from 2017 through 2019, leading the program’s defensive line and serving as the strength and conditioning coordinator. He was a defensive graduate assistant at Cal for three seasons after also spending a year on quality control at Cincinnati.
 
He earned his bachelor of arts from Texas Tech in 2012 before earning a master of public health from Cal in 2016.
