DeMarcus Coleman is in his second year as cornerbacks coach at HCU, while adding recruiting coordinator to his title in 2026, and his third year overall with the program. In his first season with the Huskies, Coleman served as a defensive quality control analyst.

In 2025, his first year guiding the team’s cornerbacks, the HCU defense tied for seventh nationally with 15 interceptions and 13th nationally with just 173.7 passing yards per game allowed. Redshirt freshman Tyran Chappell earned Freshman All-America honors after tying for 24th in the FCS with one pass defended per game, leading the Southland Conference with 11 total passes defended. His four interceptions tied for the program single-season record.

He came to HCU following a five-year career as a defensive back at Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas. He appeared in 37 career games for the Cowboys and was part of a program that posted a record of 39-8 during his time with the team.

He earned his bachelor of science in sport and fitness administration/management in 2023.
