Nick Hilton enters his first season as Assistant Coach for Houston Christian University.

Hilton comes to HCU after spending the 2023-2024 season as the lead assistant at Ranger College (NJCAA D1). He helped lead the program to a 17-14 overall record in the ultra competitive Region 5 in Texas.

Prior to Ranger College, Hilton spent the previous two seasons as the lead assistant at Chadron State College (NCAA D2). In just his second season there in 2022-2023, the Chadron State Eagles went 19-10 overall, making it the winningest season in the last 23 years of Chadron State basketball.

Hilton spent two seasons as an assistant at College of San Mateo, a junior college in San Mateo, CA.  In 2019-2020,  Hilton’s first year, the College of San Mateo Bulldogs went 14-14 in it’s inaugural season, earning a spot in the CCCAA state playoffs. In 2020-2021, the Bulldogs season was cancelled due to Covid-19.

As a student-athlete at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska, Hilton was the team captain for the Bruins from 2016-2018.  During those two years, Hilton helped lead the Bruins to two North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) regular season conference titles, two national tournament appearances, a NSAA conference tournament championship, and a Final Four finish in the NAIA National Tournament in the 2017 season. Hilton was a NSAA all-conference award winner in 2017.

His collegiate career began at Fresno City College during the 2014-2016 seasons.  Hilton was a team captain, an all-conference selection, two-time Central Valley Conference champion, and a California Community College Athletic Association State Final Four participant in the 2016 season. During his two years suiting up for the Rams, Hilton helped guide Fresno City to an overall record of 56-11.

Hilton received his master’s degree in Human Performance and Wellness Management from Wayne State College, and his bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance from Bellevue University.
