Biography

2020: Johnson appeared in all four games…made seven catches for 50 yards…had six catches for 40 yards in the opener at North Texas (9/5).

2019: Played in 11 games, making 14 catches for 183 yards and three touchdowns…made a nine-yard touchdown reception against Texas Wesleyan (9/7)…had two catches for 21 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown, against Texas Southern (9/28)…set career highs with four catches for 90 yards, including a 29-yard reception and a 13-yard touchdown grab at McNeese (10/19)…named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

2018: Appeared in eight games, primarily on special teams…made one catch for nine yard against Southwest Baptist in the season opener (9/1)…named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

2017: Received a medical redshirt after missing the entire season with an injury…named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

High School: Was a two-year starter at Klein Collins High School for coach Drew Svoboda…as a senior, made 32 catches for 510 yards and six touchdowns to earn first-team all-district honors…was an academic all-district selection as a junior and senior.

Personal: Full name is Jaylon Matthew Johnson…born Nov. 6, 1998, in Houston…son of Tommy and Lori Johnson…has two brothers, Cameron and Jarrett…brother, Cameron, is a wide receiver at Rice University…majoring in accounting.
