Now in his second season with the Huskies, Stoney Patton was named HCU wide receivers coach and video coordinator in January 2023.
 
A native of Scurry, Texas, Patton guided a receivers room in 2023 that averaged more than 209 yards per game with 15 touchdowns receptions. Senior Karl Reynolds earned first team all-SLC honors for a season in which he totaled 47 receptions, 661 yards and six touchdowns. His 661 yards receiving ranks fourth in a single-season in program history.
 
Prior to joining the Huskies, Patton was the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Howard Payne University the past two seasons for the Huskies’ new offensive coordinator, Jason Bachtel, who was the head coach for the Yellow Jackets during that time.
 
Prior to HPU, Patton was a long-time high school coach in Texas, including stops at Athens High School, Fairfield High School, Mildred High School, North Forney High School, Scurry-Rosser High School, where he also coached with Bachtel, and Quinlan High School. He began his coaching career as an offensive assistant at Ouachita Baptist University.
 
Patton was a running back for OBU from 2008-11. He earned a bachelor of arts in history and English literature from OBU, then earned a Master’s degree in education leadership administration from Lamar.
