Roosevelt Williams began his tenure on the HCU football staff in January of 2024 as the team’s cornerbacks coach.
 
Williams spent four seasons on staff at Hardin-Simmons University as the program’s defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator. He had eight defensive backs receive All-American Southwest Conference honors and in 2021 the Cowboys featured the sixth-best passing defense in NCAA Division III, limiting opponents to just 132 yards per game through the air. In 2020 HSU defensively finished number one in total defense, second in scoring defense, sixth in pass defense and tenth in rushing defense nationally.
 
Prior to his time at HSU, Williams served as the head coach at ASA Miami College where he is the winningest coach in school history. Under Williams' leadership, ASA earned multiple wins over rank junior college opponents and rose as high as fifth in the national rankings. He joined ASA Miami College following three years as defensive coordinator at Lincoln University. He has also had stints as defensive coordinator at Seton Hill University, defensive backs coach at Southwest Baptist University and Widener University. Williams was a coaching intern for San Diego Chargers in 2011, Indianapolis Colts in 2014 – 2015 and with the Chicago Bears in 2022 assisting with the defensive backs.
 
An All-American at Tuskegee University, Williams was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round 72nd overall of the 2002 NFL draft, spending time with the Bears, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns before also playing in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskis.
