Eric Daniels was named HCU football's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in January 2023.
Daniels spent the past three season at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level as defensive coordinator at Towson University, where the Tigers ranked as high as fifth in the nation. He spent one season as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Briar Cliff University, after one season in the same role at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
Daniels was on staff at SMU from 2010-14, the last two seasons as linebackers coach. He helped the Mustangs to a school-record four-straight bowl appearances. He was also linebackers coach at Angelo State for two seasons and began his career as assistant linebackers coach at Hardin-Simmons University.
Although he began his playing career at Baylor, Daniels finished at Hardin-Simmons, where he earned a bachelor of behavioral science in physical education in 2007. He earned a Master's of Student Development and Leadership in Higher Education from Angelo State in 2009.
