Drake Smithton was named the quarterbacks coach at HBU on Feb. 1, 2021.
Smithton served as offensive quality control the previous two seasons at Oklahoma State. He was previously an offensive analyst at UNLV, serving on staff with current HBU offensive coordinator Cedric Cormier.

The Woodward, Oklahoma, native redshirted his first year at Oklahoma State, then transferred to Division II Emporia State in Kansas. As a senior, Smithton made 20 receptions for 203 yards, after making 27 catches for 239 yards as a junior. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Emporia State in 2016. He then earned a Master’s degree in healthcare administration from Oklahoma State in 2017, while serving as an offensive analyst for the Cowboys.
