| Box Score 2 HOUSTON – The day after earning their first win of the 2026 season, HCU volleyball faced two tough matchups today at the Houston Invitational against Abilene Christian and UH.

HCU started the first match on a strong note, winning the first set on a strong three-point rally after being tied 22-22. The Wildcats caught a rhythm late in the second set, going on a five-point run, changing the momentum of the match, ending the set 25-20. Early in the third set, ACU grasped a six-point lead, and carried it to end the set 25-18. The Wildcats closed the fourth set on a strong rally that ended the match in four sets with a score of 25-15.

Later in the day, the Huskies traveled to the Fertitta Center for a matchup with the Houston Cougars, which proved to be the toughest matchup of the season thus far. In the first set, HCU was able to keep a close game, before UH separated late in the set with a 10-2-point run, sealing the set 25-16. After finding momentum in the first set, the Cougars separated early in the second set, going up 9-1 early and keeping the pace to end the set 25-12. The third set proved to be no different than the other two, as UH went up 15-5 halfway through the set, and ended the set on a five-point rally, ultimately sealing the game in three sets.

In the final two games, the Huskies were led by Joya Euhus and Sa'Myah Medford, who both collected 17 total kills on the offensive side. Additionally, Ensilina Savelio led the team with 59 total assists and 18 digs on the day. Defensive standout, Bianca Byerly, led the team with 26 digs.

The Huskies will be back on the road next weekend in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for the Southern Miss Invitational, where they will play the home team Southern Miss at 6 pm on Thursday, Sep. 10, and another doubleheader on Friday, Sep. 11 against both Jackson State and Southern University.
