Corpus Christi, TX – After opening the first two Southland Conference games of the 2026 season at home, the HCU volleyball squad is hitting the road this weekend for their next two Southland matchups against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday, Oct. 1, and UTRGV on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The first match of the weekend features the Huskies taking on a 4-9 Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders team that currently sits at 2-0 in conference play, beating both Nicholls and McNeese. The Islanders squad is currently led by senior Kenna Buchanan, collecting 127 kills, 94 digs, and 13 blocks this season so far. The matchup between HCU and Texas A&M Corpus Christi begins at 11:30 am and will be streamed on ESPN+.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Huskies will travel even further south to the valley to take on the UTRGV Vaqueros, who hold a 6-7 overall record, and a 2-0 conference record with wins over McNeese and Nicholls. Ema Petkovic and Julianna Bryant both lead the Vaqueros, with Petkovic totaling 156 kills and 83 digs, while Bryant has totaled 92 kills and 49 blocks on the season. This matchup begins at noon and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Husky volleyball team heads into the weekend with a 2-12 record and is still looking for its first win in Southland Conference competition. The Huskies are currently led offensively by
Katy Barger, who has added 159 kills and 45 digs this season. On the defensive end,
Allana Archie leads the team with 42 blocks, while also tacking on 114 kills.
After the road slate this weekend, the HCU Huskies will stay on the road for games against Lamar on Thursday, Oct. 8, and against SFA on Saturday, Oct.10.
