Box Score HOUSTON – The Husky volleyball squad played their third home match of the 2026 season in an even matchup versus the East Texas A&M Lions, where both teams fought until the very end.
The Huskies got off to a hot start versus the Lions, winning the first set 26-24, which had both teams going back and forth in scoring. In the second set, the Lions caught hold of a sudden momentum swing that saw a 23-19 lead late in the set before HCU rallied back and scored four of the next five points, until the Lions claimed the second set with a score of 25-23. In the third set, keeping the momentum, East Texas A&M went on an early scoring run, taking a 19-10 lead and finishing the set 25-15. HCU battled back in the fourth set, going on a scoring run of their own and taking a 20-13 lead late in the fourth set and closing it out 25-17, forcing a fifth set. The Lions took an early 6-2 lead in the fifth set and fended off a Husky rally to win the set 15-8, sealing the match 3-2.
Today, the Husky volleyball team was led by senior
Allana Archie, who led the match with 15 kills, 5 blocks, 18 total points, and adding a hitting percentage of .480. Newcomer
Enisilina Savelio also made an impact on the court today, adding 48 assists and 10 digs to her season total.
HCU will hit the road for their next four matches, the first two next week against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday, Oct. 1 and UTRGV on Saturday, Oct. 3.
