SB: Huskies fall to Cowgirls in mid-week series opener

HCU continues brutal road stretch with twin-bill on Wednesday



LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana --- Houston Christian University dropped the opener of a mid-week three-game series at McNeese State University, falling 10-0 at Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond on Tuesday.
 
The Pokes got out to a quick start in the first when Maddie Taylor doubled home and run then scored on a wild pitch. That would be all she would need, as she shut out the Huskies on three hits in five innings with five strikeouts to improve to 9-4 on the season.
 
Jada Munoz added a two-run homer in the second and a two-run double in the third. Taylor added another RBI with a groundout.
 
Raenna Liscano had two hits for HCU. Leah Hammack suffered the loss, going 2.1 innings before giving way to Jade Moreno for the final 1.2 of the evening.
 
Munoz went 2-2 with the homer and four RBI while Taylor was 2-3 with two runs and two RBI for the Cowgirls (27-17, 11-8 SLC).
 
HCU drops to 6-33 overall and 3-16 in the Southland. The Huskies continue the brutal stretch on the road when they wrap up the McNeese series with a twin-bill on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 2 pm with both contests available on ESPN+.
