HOUSTON – The HCU volleyball squad hosted LSU New Orleans for a Southland Conference clash after playing four-straight games on the road.
The Privateers were able to keep up with the Huskies through the first set, until HCU caught hold of a 24-19 lead. LSUNO fought back to bring the score within one point but fell short of a comeback after a strong
Sa'Myah Medford kill that ended the first set 25-23. In the second set, the Huskies found their rhythm, taking a 17-8 lead halfway through the set and following through to win the set 25-17. HCU continued their impressive showing in the third set, paving the way for the win, going up 21-12 late in the set and ending the match on a
Malaya Balina-Ayers kill, giving the Huskies their first conference win on the season.
In a strong win, the Huskies were led by Sa'Myah Medford, who led the match with 12 kills, 13.5 total points, and 3 blocks.
To close out the weekend, HCU will hit the road to face Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 am before returning to Sharp Gym for two more home games next week.
