Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After hosting their first two Southland Conference opponents, HCU volleyball hit the road for its first of four straight away matchups against a tough Texas A&M Corpus Christi team.
In the first of three closely contested sets, the Huskies started strong with a balanced attack, taking an early 7-3 lead, but were met with an Islander rally that wound up with a 12-10 TAMUCC lead. Both teams kept the set even, going back-and-forth until the islanders found the last two points of the set from a late 23-22 lead to take the first set. The second set saw very similar events to the first, with HCU taking an early 7-4 lead and keeping a steady lead until the Islanders evened the score at 15-15 and made a run to take a 20-16 lead, enough to fend off a Husky rally to end the set with a score of 25-22. Looking to find some momentum of their own, the Huskies fought to the very end of the third set, trading points with the Islanders, but ultimately falling in the third set with a narrow score of 25-23, giving the Islanders the third set and winning the match 3-0.
