VB: Huskies Visit Northwestern State for Saturday Southland Matchup

HCU aims for back-to-back SLC wins at Northwestern State.

NATCHITOCHES, La. – Houston Christian volleyball continues Southland Conference play on Saturday, visiting Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Louisiana, for a 1 p.m. first serve.

The Huskies (6-8, 1-0 SLC) opened league play with a 3-0 sweep at East Texas A&M on Thursday, hitting 50 kills behind balanced scoring from the front row. Allana Archie, a junior from Spring, Texas, leads HCU with 116 kills and 36 blocks this season, while the Huskies are averaging 12.3 kills per set and 11.1 assists per set. Defensively, HCU has collected 694 digs and 74 blocks through 14 matches.

Northwestern State (1-14, 0-1 SLC) is seeking its first league win after dropping a 3-0 decision to UIW in its opener. The Demons are paced by Deja Benjamin with 113 kills, setter Reagan Hamm with 216 assists, and Jade Longlad, who leads the Southland with 29 aces.

The Huskies hold a 17-7 advantage in the all-time series with NSU, winning eight of the last ten meetings. Following Saturday's match, HCU returns home to Sharp Gym on Thursday, Oct. 2, to host McNeese at 6:30 p.m.
