HOUSTON – Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium the HCU football team will take on the 17th-ranked Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks for Homecoming with kick-off set for 2:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Nicholas Pietrzycki and Jackson Cochran while this week's radio play-by-play call on Patriot Talk 920 AM will be provided by Jordan Smith.
 
HCU (2-7, 1-4 SLC) is coming off a 31-7 road loss to Nicholls last weekend in which the Huskies' running back duo of Xai'Shaun Edwards and Darryle Evans combined for 129 yards on 20 carries with Edwards rushing for his school record 10th touchdown of the season. Quarterback Maddox Kopp completed 12-of-15 passes for a career-high 170 yards and Ja'Ryan Wallace hauled in seven passes for 91 yards.
 
Sean Dubose Jr. led the Huskies with six tackles in the loss while senior Rodney Dansby finished with five. Dansby now sits at 414 career tackles, just one shy of Brennan Young for second in career tackles at HCU. The senior linebacker has averaged an impressive 10.1 tackles per game for his career.
 
SFA (7-2, 5-0 SLC) has won seven-straight games after a pair of season-opening losses at Houston and at Abilene Christian. Senior quarterback Sam Vidlak is completing 65.5 percent of his passes this season for 1,874 yards and 15 touchdowns with just six interceptions. His top receiving target, Kylon Harris, is tied for the league lead with 53 receptions for 613 yards and seven touchdowns while running back Jerrell Wimbley is second in the SLC, behind HCU's Edwards, with 726 yards on the ground.
 
The Lumberjacks boast the top scoring defense in the SLC, limiting opponents to just 16.8 points per game for the season.


The Huskies travel to Commerce, Texas for their final road game of the 2025 season next Saturday, Nov. 15, to take on the East Texas A&M Lions at 4:00 p.m.
