HOUSTON — Houston Christian Volleyball returns to Sharp Gym for the final time this season, hosting Incarnate Word on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the regular-season finale before next week's Southland Conference Championship in Commerce, Texas.
The Huskies (12–16, 7–8 SLC) will look to snap a three-match skid and build momentum heading into postseason play. Saturday's matchup marks a quick turnaround from Wednesday's meeting in San Antonio, where UIW (15–12, 11–4 SLC) claimed a 3–0 win.
HCU enters the weekend tied for sixth in the standings, while the Cardinals have already secured a top-four finish. Despite the gap, the Huskies have been competitive across recent matches and will aim to leverage home-court advantage, where they hold a 6–4 record this year.
Leading the HCU attack is senior middle blocker Allana Archie, who has recorded a team-high 272 kills and 65 blocks this season. Joya Euhus (184 kills) and Hannah Redrow (173) provide steady offensive support, while setter Peyton Fadal continues to direct the offense with 695 assists. Defensively, Bianca Byerly anchors the back row with 337 digs and leads the team with 34 service aces.
UIW, meanwhile, is powered by outside hitter Kyla Malone (301 kills) and setter Calissa Allison, who ranks among the league's leaders with 793 assists and 38 aces. The Cardinals have won back-to-back matches and feature one of the conference's most efficient attacks, hitting .222 as a team.
With the Southland Tournament set for November 20–23, Saturday's matchup serves as HCU's final tune-up before postseason play. The Huskies will look to finish their home schedule on a high note and carry momentum into Commerce.
