VB: Huskies Look to Bounce Back Against Northwestern State at Sharp Gym

HCU hosts the Lady Demons in Southland rematch after sweeping them earlier this season

HOUSTON — Houston Christian Volleyball returns home to Sharp Gym on Saturday afternoon to face Northwestern State for the second time this season in Southland Conference play. First serve is set for 1 p.m.

The Huskies (11-13, 6-5 SLC) will look to regroup after a 3-0 setback to East Texas A&M on Thursday. Earlier this season, HCU earned a decisive 3-0 win over Northwestern State in Natchitoches on September 27, holding the Lady Demons to a .045 hitting percentage and controlling the match from start to finish.

HCU enters the weekend sitting sixth in the Southland standings, looking to solidify its conference position with four matches remaining. The Huskies have been led offensively by Allana Archie, who ranks among the conference leaders with 234 kills on a .291 hitting clip. Joya Euhus and Hannah Redrow add depth at the net with a combined 318 kills and 63 total blocks. Setter Peyton Fadal continues to pace the offense with 695 assists on the year, while Bianca Byerly leads the defensive back row with 284 digs and a team-high 30 service aces.

Northwestern State (1-24, 0-11 SLC) comes into Houston still searching for its first conference victory. The Lady Demons fell 3-0 at UIW in their last outing. Despite their record, NSU has shown strength at the net behind Samaya Wesson (68 blocks) and Deja Benjamin (174 kills). Defensively, Emmarie McFarland anchors the backcourt with 263 digs.

The Huskies hold a .191 team hitting percentage on the season while averaging 13.0 kills per set, compared to Northwestern State's .104 and 9.1, respectively. HCU's blocking and balanced offense will be key as the team looks to return to the win column before heading to Corpus Christi next Thursday to face Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.

First serve from Sharp Gym is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans can follow the action through live stats and the Southland Digital Network broadcast.
