HOUSTON – Houston Christian dropped a 3–0 (22–25, 19–25, 21–25) decision to East Texas A&M Thursday night at Sharp Gym in Southland Conference play.
The opening set saw both sides exchange points through the early stages, with HCU keeping pace behind strong play at the net and several key sideouts. A short service run gave the Huskies a 17–15 edge, but East Texas A&M responded with a late surge to reclaim the lead. Despite a pair of kills to close the gap, HCU came up short, 25–22.
In the second, the Lions established an early advantage, building momentum through steady serving and consistent defensive coverage. HCU worked to close the gap midway through the set, cutting it to 15–18 after back-to-back kills, but East Texas A&M maintained control to take the frame, 25–19.
The third set featured another competitive stretch as the Huskies battled to extend the match. After trailing 9–4, HCU rallied behind a 5–1 run to pull within one. The set remained tight until the closing points, when East Texas A&M capitalized on a pair of late errors to finish the sweep, 25–21.
Allana Archie and 
Joya Euhus each had seven kills for the Huskies. 
Katy Barger and 
Jade Smith added four apiece while 
Madison Hess had 30 assists to pace the offense. 
Bianca Byerly led the defensive effort with 18 digs with Hess and 
Anna Melgren chipping in 10 each.
Gracie Campbell highlighted the East Texas A&M offense with her game-high 21 kills. Haley Mullaney had 22 assists while Jade Washington and Rendi Fetty led the defense with 13 and 12 digs respectively. 
HCU drops to 11–13 overall and 6–5 in Southland Conference play, while East Texas A&M improves to 7–15 and 5–6.
The Huskies return to Sharp Gym on Saturday at 1 p.m. to face Northwestern State in another SLC matchup.
