Katherine Rogers helped lead the HCU women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Rice Invitational on Friday while sophomore
Colby Kurtz led the men, placing 10
th.
The HCU women finished third out of 10 teams, placing behind the host Owls and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Rogers came in 14
th overall with a time of 14:47.9 as the team's top finisher in the 4k race with
Macie Hunter and
Sarah Moya Oliva crossing back-to-back in 23
rd and 24
th, respectively, with times of 15:46.7 and 15:49.4.
Cara Gary came in two spots later in 15:57.9.
Jazlynn Garza finished 32
nd with a time of 16:23.8.
Katherine Rogers came in 10th with 14:37 and Sarah Moya Oliva placed 18th with 14:42. Macie Hunter and Elena Farinholt also had notable finishes at 37th and 38th.
The men didn't have enough finishers for a team score but Kurtz posted a top-10 finish with a four-mile time of 16:21.4.
Krzysztof Turski finished just four spots back of his teammate with a PR time of 16:26.7.
Jaxson Artisst finished in 17:36.2, placing 45
th, while
Jacob Smith came in 72
nd with a time of 19:19.6.
The Huskies head to Lake Charles, La. in two weeks for the McNeese Cowboy Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 28.
