Houston Christian University has added transfer Henrik Sakshaug to its recruiting class for the 2024 season announced Head Coach Ryan Pratt on Monday.
 
A 5'11 midfielder from San Antonio, Sakshaug comes to the Huskies after spending his freshman season in the Big 10 at the University of Maryland. He played in seven games with one start for the Terrapins
 
Sakshaug was a member of the San Antonio FC academy program where he was a part of the 2022 squad that won the USL championship.
 
PRATT ON SAKSHAUG:
 
"Henrik is a creative attack minded midfielder who covers a lot ground defensively and who's end product is consistently very high. He will be a very good fit for our group defensively and will add a spark to our attack. We are delighted to be adding him to our program."
 
The Sakshaug signing makes the 2024 recruiting class a baker's dozen. The incoming group currently consists of one grad transfer along with six transfers and six first-year players.
 
Sakshaug will hit campus for the Fall of 2024 alongside recent spring signings, Cezar Onut, Tremain Simpson, Theo Butterworth, Jaiden Ramsay-Kelly, Jake Salas, Daniel Ejerenwa and Rio Pemberton.
 
Those eight are set to join Fall of 2023 signee Morgan Worsfold-Gregg and January of 2024 additions Sebastian Rodriguez, Freddy Ferguson, Armando Torres Cruz and Simeon Dishman. All five attended HCU for the Spring semester.
 
The Huskies lost just six seniors off of the 2023 squad that went 4-8-6 in the program's first season in the Ohio Valley Conference. The club does return OVC Midfielder of the Year D'Alessandro Herrera as well as OVC Freshman of the Year Ryan Okerayi, each of which were selected to the All-OVC First team.
