VB: Huskies Dominate UIW with a Sweeping Victory

HCU Sweeps UIW in Straight Sets for a Second Consecutive Victory

HOUSTON, Texas – The HCU volleyball team continued its winning streak with a commanding 3-0 victory over UIW, taking all three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-13. This follows another straight-sets win in their previous match against New Orleans.

In the opening set, Houston Christian (HCU) quickly established dominance, pulling ahead with strong offensive plays and capitalizing on UIW errors. Grace McLaughlin's setups enabled Emerald Jacobs and Allana Archie to secure crucial points. Meanwhile, Ravyn Dash and Audrey Pearce provided a strong defensive front, blocking multiple attempts and widening HCU's lead. HCU maintained control throughout, closing the set at 25-18 with a balanced mix of offense and defense.

Building on this momentum in the second set, HCU continued to assert themselves as Ana Garza and Ravyn Dash contributed early kills from McLaughlin's assists. Although UIW's Kyla Malone and Kade Thomas managed a few well-placed kills, their team struggled with attack errors and service issues, allowing HCU to maintain their advantage. Audrey Pearce and Sa'Myah Medford delivered timely kills, and Pearce's ace added further pressure on UIW. Despite a late push from UIW's Teyhlor Thomas, HCU closed the set at 25-20 with disciplined play.

In the final set, HCU took firm control, displaying an explosive offense that UIW struggled to counter. Pearce and Jacobs racked up numerous kills with McLaughlin's precise assists, while Peyton Fadal's serves challenged UIW's defense. UIW continued to face issues with errors, unable to keep up with HCU's strong blocking and service aces. With a decisive 25-13 finish, HCU swept the match, securing a commanding victory.

HCU's victory was led by standout performances across all key stats. Audrey Pearce led the team with 11 kills, closely followed by Emerald Jacobs with 10 and Sa'Myah Medford with 8, showcasing HCU's balanced offensive attack. At the service line, Alexia Jones and Peyton Fadal were sharp, each recording three aces, while Grace McLaughlin added another to keep UIW on the defensive. Defensively, Pearce also shined at the net, contributing four blocks, with Allana Archie and Ravyn Dash both adding three. Grace McLaughlin directed the offense efficiently with 25 assists, supported by Fadal with 14. In the back row, Tatiana Evans anchored HCU's defense with a team-high 16 digs, followed by Jacobs with 11 and Jones with 9, solidifying HCU's control over each rally.

Up next, the Huskies will return home to host Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday, November 7, at 6:30 p.m. in Sharp Gym for another Southland Conference showdown.
