FRISCO, Texas – HCU placed four student-athletes on the 2024 Southland Conference all-conference team with
Dion Daniels,
Champ Dozier,
Dillon Fedor and
AJ Wilson all selected to the second team, announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Daniels, a senior offensive lineman, started all 12 games for the Huskies after earning preseason all-conference recognition. Daniels was a constant on the HCU line, helping lead a unit that helped the Huskies to two of the top three single-game rushing performances in program history this season.
Dozier, a redshirt freshman running back, was selected as a kick returner after averaging a league-best 32.4 yards per return on 10 returns. He was one of three HCU players to return a kickoff for a touchdown, taking one 97 yards for a score at East Texas A&M.
Fedor, a senior placekicker, makes his second appearance as an all-SLC selection after earning first team honors last year. He ended the 2024 season connecting on 17-of-20 field goal attempts with a long of 50 yards. Fedor earned Stats Perform National Special Teams Player of the Week honors following a 5-of-5 performance in a win over a ranked McNeese team.
Wilson led all SLC players with 607 yards receiving in conference play, hauling in 15 catches and scoring six touchdowns. For the season, he finished with 29 catches for 825 yards and eight touchdowns. His 825 yards and eight touchdowns each ranked third in a single-season all-time at HCU. Wilson's 28.45 yards per reception leads all Division I (FBS and FCS) players with the next closest YPC belonging to Charlotte's Omega Blake, average 24.07.
HCU closed out its first season under head coach
Jason Bachtel this past Saturday with a 62-24 win over Northwestern State, ending the year with a 5-7 record and a 3-4 mark in SLC play.
