NEW ORLEANS, LA – HCU volleyball concludes its non-conference schedule at the Tulane Invitational, taking on Clemson, UTEP, and Tulane at Devlin Fieldhouse from Thursday through Saturday.
The Huskies (4-5), playing two matches at the Rice Invitational this past weekend, saw the return of senior
Anna Gadway. The first team all-Southland Conference returner is coming off a career-high 381-kill season in 2022 while averaging 1.78 digs and 0.56 blocks per set last season. She recorded double-digit kills in 12 of 16 conference matches, including three double-doubles.
HCU is led by junior
Audrey Pearce hitting .268 while averaging 2.57 kills per set and 1.20 blocks per set. Sophomore
Cassidy Drapela has racked up 91 kills on the season while
Sara Arroyo is averaging 2.46 kills per set. Setter
Grace McLaughlin is dishing out 8.08 assists per set and libero
Kaley Feris leads the Huskies defensively, averaging 4.43 digs per set.
Clemson (6-3) is coming off a five-set victory against Sacramento State at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Tigers are led by Kennedy Wagner, averaging 3.03 kills per set, while Adria Powell has tallied 1.61 blocks per set. Mckenna Slavik dishes out 8.66 assists per set and Devan Taylor leads Clemson's back line with 4.25 digs per set.
UTEP (6-2) recorded two wins against host Ohio and William & Mary at the Bobcat Invitational last weekend. The Miners are led by Torrance Lovesee averaging 2.31 kills per set and 1.84 digs per set. Kalia Kohler has dished out 185 assists while averaging 5.61 assists per set. Alyssa Sianez leads the Miners defensively with 3.55 digs per set.
Tournament host Tulane (4-5) concluded the Islander Classic hosted by fellow Southland Conference rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi taking down PVAMU and UTRGV. The Pelicans are led by Avery Burks averaging 3.42 kills per set and 3.48 digs per set. Laura Fiabane has tallied 7.05 assists per set while Lauryn Burrows leads the back line with 5.19 digs per set.
