NATCHITOCHES, LA — HCU fell 6-1 to Northwestern State in the series finale at Lady Demon Diamond on Saturday. The Demons took the three-game set, two games to one, moving one game ahead of the Huskies in the Southland standings.
NSU put a four-spot on the board in the first frame and never looked back. After an RBI double from Keely Dubois, Mackenzie Chaffin launched a two-run homer and Laney Roos followed her with a solo blast.
The lone HCU tally came in the fourth on an RBI single by
Maggie Childs that brought home
Jasie Roberts.
Childs went 2-3 with the RBI, and
AB Garcia also went 2-3 for the Huskies, collecting four of the Huskies five hits on the day.
Katy Janes suffered the defeat, falling to 5-8 on the season.
Lyndie Swanson provided 5.1 of solid relief, giving up five hits and two runs.
Roos went 3-3 with a homer and RBI while Chaffin went 1-2 with a homer and two RBI to lead the Demons (18-15 / 5-4 SLC).
Maggie Darr went the distance, shutting down the Huskies bats on five hits and one run with three walks and three K's to improve to 9-5 on the season.

The Huskies (14-20 / 4-5 SLC) have just one game over the next nine days, traveling to San Antonio on April 4 for a 6 pm contest with the Roadrunners.
HCU will return home after Easter for a busy week of Southland play.
A six-game homestand has the Huskies hosting Texas A&M-Commerce and Southeastern Louisiana in consecutive three-game series at Husky Field.
