HOUSTON – HCU and Lamar are set to run it back on Saturday evening in Sharp Gym at 7:00 p.m. after playing last night at the Montagne Center.
Lamar (9-18, 5-9 SLC) came out on the winning end on Thursday, defeating the Huskies (8-19, 5-9 SLC) by a 91-75 final score. Senior
Maks Klanjscek led the Huskies with 21 points while
Brycen Long added 17 and
Pierce Bazil scored 16. Lamar was led by Nate Calmese with 32 points and Terry Anderson with 24 points and eight rebounds.
Klanjscek has been hot for the Huskies over the last four games, averaging 25 points per game while shooting 48.3 percent from the field, 43.6 percent from three and 92.6 percent from the foul line. In conference play, the senior ranks ninth in the league and leads the team with 15.9 ppg.
Long knocked down five threes in Thursday's loss, bringing his season total to 80. That ties him for seventh on the program's single-season made threes list and leaves him 11 shy of the single-season record. With four regular season games remaining, he needs to average three a game to set a new program-best mark.
The Huskies remain at home to host McNeese in Sharp Gym on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Thibodaux, La. on Feb. 25 to take on Nicholls. The regular season comes to a close on Wednesday, Mar. 1, at home against Southeastern.
