Huskies begin spring campaign at the Border Olympics hosted by the University of Houston.

The Huskies will return to action for the championship season this week at the Border Olympics hosted by the University of Houston in Laredo, TX. The Border Olympics, started in 1952, is celebrating its 71st year and is the longest running D1 golf tournament in NCAA history. The 54-hole tournament will take place at the 7204-yard Laredo Country Club, with 36-holes being played on Monday, followed by 18-holes on Tuesday.

HCU's first line-up of the semester will feature seniors Mason Ghidina and Ben Caton, junior Cooper New, and freshmen Mason Napier and Roy Barrera. HCU will play the first two rounds with the University of Houston, teeing off on holes 17 and 18.

Heading into this week, Coach David Shuster shared, "staying within ourselves and managing the wind will be the key to a good week in Loredo. A strong field and a great historic event is a great way to kick off our championship season."

The 17-team field includes: HCU, U of H, Baylor, Sam Houston State, Coastal Carolina, Wright State, Miami University (OH), Louisiana Tech, Rice, New Mexico State, Michigan, Illinois State, ULM, Lamar University, Western Carolina, Bowling Green, and UTRGV.

Live statistics will be available via Golfstat.
