FB: HCU to Immediately Begin Search for New Head Football Coach

The Huskies are fresh off the first winning season in program history

HOUSTON – HCU president Dr. Robert Sloan and director of athletics Steve Moniaci announced on Sunday night the search for a new head football coach to lead the Huskies' football program following the departure of Braxton Harris.

"We were certainly surprised to learn of coach Harris's intentions to leave the HCU program after just one season," said Moniaci. "Despite the sudden nature of coach Harris's departure, we at HCU remain committed to building on the foundation that was laid during the 2023 season that saw our football team post the first winning season in program history. With that being said, we will immediately begin a search for a new head coach to lead the Huskies to even greater heights in the years to come."

HCU is coming off a 2023 season in which the Huskies went 6-5 overall and 4-3 in Southland Conference play for the first winning season in program history. Picked last in the league's preseason poll, HCU surpassed those expectations en route to a fourth-place finish in the SLC standings.

HCU's search for the third head coach in program history will begin immediately.
