Huskies finish regular season with pair on Fondren Road this week

Ricardo Garcia and Ryan Okerayi were each named by Top Drawer Soccer as the publication released its Men's College Freshman rankings featuring 100 first-year players.

Both natives of Houston, Okerayi and Garcia each attended Texas Connections Academy. Okerayi was a member of the Houston Legends club team, while Garcia suited up for Houston Dynamo Academy.

A 6'3 forward checking in at No. 57 in the rankings, Okerayi has been outstanding up front for the Huskies in his rookie campaign. He is second on the club with 14 points, standing tied for the team lead in goals with six. He has a SOG percentage of .524, with 11 of his 21 shots coming on target while making 10 starts in 15 times featured.

Garcia, a 5'6 midfielder who sits at No. 84 on the chart, has been equally impressive roaming the midfield. He has made 14 starts in 16 appearances, and leads the team in assists with four. He has also scored two goals giving him eight points, third-best on the squad.

All 23 men's collegiate conferences feature at least one player on the list, with the Big Ten's 16 recognitions leading the way, followed by the ACC with 12, the Sun Belt with eight, and the Ivy League and A10 tied with six each.
Liberty's Leo Conneh was the only other OVC player selected, coming in at No. 32 on the list.

The Huskies will head into the final week of regular season action in fifth place in the OVC table. HCU will host Liberty on Thursday night, then have a rematch with Chicago State for "Senior Day" at Sorrels Field on Sunday, October 29.

The OVC Tournament is set for the following week, November 5-11, hosted by SIUE, the first-ever OVC regular season champion.
