HOUSTON – HCU takes a week off from Southland Conference play this Saturday when the Huskies close out the non-conference portion of their schedule against Prairie View A&M at Husky Stadium. Saturday's game will be shown live on ESPN+ with the voice of the Huskies, Garrett Jones, providing play-by-play.

The Huskies (2-4, 1-2 SLC) aim to snap a two-game skid against a Prairie View (3-3, 3-1 SWAC) team coming off a 31-12 home win over Mississippi Valley State. HCU and Prairie View have played once before with the Panthers defeating the Huskies, 37-27, in Prairie View, Texas. Ismael Fuller, currently a junior wide receiver, caught a pair of touchdown passes in the loss.

Now more than halfway through the season with six games down, the Huskies rank 20th in the FCS and lead the Southland Conference in fewest penalty yards per game. HCU is averaging just 43.67 penalty yards per game. Last season, the Huskies were hit with an average of 62.7 penalty yards per outing.

The HCU defense continues to be among the nation's best at making stops behind the line of scrimmage with an average of eighth tackles for loss per game. Senior Jalyx Hunt's seven tackles for loss lead the Huskies and rank second in the conference.

Quarterback Colby Suits is 17th nationally with 13.81 yards per completion and is tied for the SLC lead with nine touchdown passes.  The Huskies also boast the league's top rushing offense, averaging 156.2 yards per game on the ground with a trio of running backs (Darryle Evans, Champ Dozier, Jesse Valenzuela) with at least 200 yards rushing and all average higher than five yards per carry.

The Panthers put forth a balanced attack in last week's 19-point victory over Mississippi Valley, amassing 259 yards through the air and 220 on the ground. Senior quarterback Trazon Connley threw for 259 yards on just 11 completions with a pair of touchdowns in the win and ranks third in the FCS for the season with 16.32 yards per completion. Ahmad Antoine leads the PV rushing attack with 376 yards on 74 carries with two scores.

Linebacker Keyshawn Johnson is the team's top tackler with 44 total tackles this season with 2.5 tackles for loss. Jamal Marshall leads the team with five TFLs and is one of three players on the roster with two sacks.

The Huskies bye week falls next Saturday, Oct. 21, with a visit by the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions coming the following weekend on Saturday, Oct. 28, for HCU's homecoming game.
