HATTIESBURG, Miss. – HBU concluded the Southern Miss Invitational Saturday afternoon with a win against the Stephen F. Austin lumberjacks in three straight sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-20), however fell to the Eagles of Southern Miss later in the evening (21-25, 27-25, 22-25).
Senior outside hitter
Anna Gadway led the way for the Huskies with 17 kills, three assists, and four blocks on the day, while sophomore middle blocker
Audrey Pearce recorded 12 kills, eight blocks, and six digs. Junior outside hitter
Sara Arroyo added 19 kills, two blocks, and three digs. Redshirt freshman
Grace McLaughlin dished out 34 assists along with 17 digs, while freshman setter
Mollee Henicke added 26 assists and 12 digs. Freshman defensive specialist
Hazel Allen led the team defensively with 25 digs on the day.
Camryn Hill led the Lumberjacks with ten kills and eight digs. Ielan Bradley had ten kills and three blocks. Setter Maddy Bourque had 20 assists and two digs.
Mia Wesley led the Eagles with 18 kills and 11 digs. Ari Barksdale recorded three kills, two blocks, and one dig while Kenzie Smith had 33 assists and 15 digs.
The Huskies will return to Sharp Gym on Tuesday, September 13
th at 6:30 p.m. to take on the Panthers of Prairie View A&M.
