HUNTSVILLE – The Huskies softball team had the second game of their double header canceled to do weather in the Huntsville area, and dropped their only contest of the day to the Wichita State Shockers at the Bearkat Softball Complex Saturday night.
The Huskies (1-2) gave up one run in each of the first three innings, but were able to get one across in the third inning on a
Caitlyn Brockway double that scored
Ab Garcia who singled earlier in the inning. HBU was threatening with two runners in scoring position, but Unfortunately for HBU only one run came across in the third.
The fifth inning saw Wichita State score five runs and extend their lead 8-2. In the game
Jasie Roberts and Garcia each went 2-3 at the dish and improved their batting averages to .400 and .385 respectively. Brockway,
Haylie Savage and
Sarah Venker each added a hit. Garcia also had her second stoeln base of the season. Swanson was stuck with her first loss of the season.
The Huskies return home to Husky Field to host Texas Southern for the Huskies' home opener. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. first pitch.
