COLUMBIA, Mo. – HCU has a stretch of four-straight home games on the horizon but first the Huskies travel to take on the Missouri Tigers on Saturday morning at Mizzou Arena. Houston Christian University (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University (HBU), underwent a name change in September 2022.
 
The Huskies (1-5) head into their first ever matchup against the Tigers (6-0) boasting the 19th-best three-point field goal percentage in the nation, connecting on 41 percent (57-of-139) from behind the arc as a team. Junior Brycen Long leads the team's three-point attack, connecting on 18-of-39 (46.2 percent) from three and ranking 37th in the country in made threes. Senior Bonke Maring is currently second in the Southland Conference with a stellar 60.7 percent (37-of-61) shooting percentage from the floor.
 
In their last outing, the Huskies took a 41-24 lead into the half but ultimately fell to a comeback by Rice. Freshman guard Pierce Bazil dished out 10 assists in the loss while also scoring 10 points for his first career double-double. Sam Hofman, a senior, led the team in scoring with 18 points and nine rebounds.
 
Missouri is led by D'Moi Hodge, a graduate transfer from Cleveland State, with an average of 17.2 points per game while shooting 53.5 percent (38-of-71) from the field. Senior forward Kobe Brown is second on the team with 13.2 ppg and leads the Tigers with 6.3 rebounds per game. As a team, Missouri is 50.7 percent from the floor and 35.4 percent from long-range.

Following Saturday's game, HCU will be back home in Sharp Gym for four-straight home games over the course of 10 days beginning on Thursday, Dec. 1, against the Denver Pioneers at 7:00 p.m.
