CHARLESTON, SC – HCU men's golf finished the Daniel Island Intercollegiate hosted by Charleston Southern University in a tie for 14th place. The Huskies fired rounds of 313, 302, and 305 to finish at 56-over par for the tournament.

The Huskies were led by freshman Roy Barrera who finished in a tie for 37th after rounds of 77, 76, and 75. Barrera recorded five total birdies in the tournament and recorded an even-par average for the back nine across all three rounds. The Daniel Island Intercollegiate was Barrera's second tournament as a Husky and his best tournament finish in his inaugural semester (T-66 at Wildcat Invitational hosted by Kansas State).

Sophomore Shaheen Momin posted rounds of 78, 72, and 79 on his way to a T-43 finish. Momin tallied a team high eight birdies over the 54-hole tournament with two coming on the final day on holes 7 and 18. Momin traveled to three of the four tournaments for the Huskies this semester.
Junior Cooper New improved each round to climb to a T-51 individual finish after posting rounds of 83, 76, and 72. New had the best round for the team on the final day thanks to three straight birdies on holes 6, 7, and 8 before adding another birdie at 11. New started all four tournaments for the Huskies this fall and is the only member to start in all four tournaments for the Huskies this fall.

Sophomore Haven McEntire fired rounds of 75, 78, and 79 on his way to a T-58 finish in his third outing for the Huskies this fall.

Junior Oliver Dickman bounced back in his final round shooting 83 to finish in 102nd place individually following his first two rounds of back-to-back 91's. Dickman played in three of the four tournaments for the Huskies this fall.

Mississippi State claimed the Daniel Island Intercollegiate title after coming from behind in the final round to win the tournament at 15 over par. Mississippi State finished three shots ahead of Florida Gulf Coast and 12 shots ahead of Campbell. South Carolina's Gene Zeigler won the individual title after a two under par, 214 three-day total. Zeigler finished three shots clear of MTSU's Owen Stamper, and four shots clear of Mississippi State's Ford Clegg and Florida Gulf Coast's Jon Hopkins.

The Huskies will return to the course to begin their spring schedule on February 13th – 14th, 2023 for the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, TX hosted by The University of Houston.
