CHARLESTON, SC – HCU men's golf sit in 13
th place through 36-holes at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate hosted by Charleston Southern University. The Huskies bounced back from a first round 25 over par, 313 team score, to a second round 14 over par, 302 team total. HCU is currently 28 strokes behind the leader headed into the final round.
The Huskies are led by sophomore
Shaheen Momin who bounced back from a six over par, 78, in the first round to an even par, 72, second round and advance into a tie for 18
th. Momin tallied four birdies in the second round starting with three on the front nine (3, 6, and 9) and made one on 13 before paring the last five holes. Sophomore
Haven McEntire followed up a first round, 75, with a second round 78 thanks to a birdie on 16. McEntire sits in a tie for 38
th headed into the final round. Freshman Roy Barrera opened the tournament with a first round, 77, and followed up with a second round, 76, thanks to an even par back nine with a birdie at 11. Barrera has shot one under par total on the back nine at Daniel Island golf club and currently sits in a tie for 38
th heading into the third round. Junior
Cooper New quickly bounced back from a first round, 83, with a second round, 74, thanks to birdies on 9 and 18. New currently sits in a tie for 75
th heading into the final round. Junior
Oliver Dickman continues to battle with back-to-back 91's and currently sits in 103
rd through 36-holes.
Florida Gulf Coast is leading the way at 11 over par, 587 team score. Mississippi State sits in 2
nd place, three shots back while South Carolina holds 3
rd place, seven shots back. South Carolina's Gene Zeigler is leading the way at four under par, and holds a six shot lead over Mississippi State's Garrett Endicott, Florida Gulf Coast's Sam Baker, and MTSU's Owen Stamper, all at two over par.
The final round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. HCU will start on holes 11-14 and play alongside Charleston Southern University, Francis Marion, and College of Charleston.
