VB: The Huskies tied at top of Southland Conference Standings

HOUSTON, TX – The Huskies will host the Lady Demons of Northwestern State for Dig Pink Game in the first match of their weekend home stand at Sharp Gym on Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 p.m. This is the final matchup of the Southland Conference season between HCU and Northwestern. HCU won the first match 3-1 and look to regain the solo lead at the top of the Southland Conference standings.

Dig Pink is a nationwide movement to provide meaningful and impactful experiences for athletes while inspiring and empowering them to come together in support of the stage IV breast cancer community. Each year, hundreds of teams across the country, and some overseas, participate in Dig Pink. Through programs like Dig Pink, the Side-Out Foundation is harnessing the power and influence of sport to impact change by funding Side-Out's very own clinical trial – The Side-Out Protocol. HCU (16-8, 8-3 SLC) is led by senior outside hitter Anna Gadway with 268 kills, 60 assists, and 48 blocks on the season. Junior outside hitter Sara Arroyo is averaging three kills per set, and a .255 attacking percentage. Redshirt freshman setter Grace McLaughlin is leading the way with 9.53 assists per set, and 820 assists on the year. Junior libero Kaley Feris has 339 digs on the year and a reception percentage of .948. Freshman defensive specialist Hazel Allen has recorded 168 digs while averaging 2.18 digs per set.

Northwestern State (13-9, 6-5 SLC) is led by Breanna Burrell with 249 kills and averaging 3.07 points per set on the year. Amina Attra has dished out 392 assists on the year while Ashlyn Svoboda has recorded 357 digs on the season and Reaghan Thompson leads the way with 91 blocks on the year.
