HOUSTON – HBU faces McNeese in the Southland Conference volleyball opener Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sharp Gym. The match will be shown live on the Husky Sports Network with Russ Reneau.
 
The Huskies (9-5) have won four of their last five, with junior setter Ellie Wipf commading the offense by averaging 9.14 assists per set. Five players average at least two kills per set: freshman outside hitter Alyssa May, senior middle blocker Jada Allen, sophomore outside hitter Sara Arroyo, junior right side Anna Gadway and freshman middle blocker Audrey Pearce. Senior middle blocker Ebonie Ballesteros leads the league with 1.22 blocks per set, while sophomore libero Kaley Feris ranks second in the Southland with 4.67 digs per set.
 
Aryn Johnson leads McNeese (6-5) with 2.83 kills per set and Regan Stiawalt adds 2.22 kills per set. Ceci Harness and Baylee Laskoskie run the offense at setter. Lizzy Low leads the Cowgirls defensively with 3.21 digs per set.
 
HBU has won four of the last five meetings with McNeese, including a 3-0 sweep in Houston on Feb. 27 during this past season's spring slate.
 
The Huskies wrap up a three-match homestand against New Orleans Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Nicholls next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
