HOUSTON – HBU men' soccer will host their final home match against Utah State on Monday, April 5 at 7 p.m. with just two games remaining. The team will honor two seniors, Jordi Cobo and Abdullah Mirza before the game.
HBU (0-7-2,0-7-1 WAC) seeks a win after the heartbreaking overtime 4-3 loss to UTRGV. Sophomore Bryant Farkarlun had a strong performance with two assists and a goal of his own, his second of the season. He is tied for second on the team with eight shots on goal. Gianluca Natera scored a goal on the night, also his second goal of the season, and leads the team with 22 shots, nine shots on goal. Gustavo Otero has appeared in the goal for the last three games for the Huskies totaling 13 saves in his freshman campaign.
The Katy, Texas native senior Jordi Corbi has seen action every season since his freshmen season totaling five goals and three assists in his career. Richmond native senior Abdullah Mirza appeared in 16 matches with two goals on his career.
Utah Valley (2-3,1-3 WAC) also recently lost in an overtime match falling 2-3 to San Jose State in their last game. Alejandro Silva and Zahir Vazquez both lead the team with two goals each and an assist. Vazquez leads with eight shots on goal. Four more Wolverines each have a goal on the season. Joseph Wheelwright has been in the goal for all five games with 12 saves on the season and 10 goals against him.
The Huskies will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Colorado to face off with Air Force at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 9.
